Privacy Policy
Last updated July 2, 2026
This policy explains what Coding Agent Survey collects, why, and what you can do about it. The short version is that we collect as little as we can, we never sell it, and we only ever publish aggregate numbers.
Who runs the site
Coding Agent Survey runs this site and is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at contact@codingagentsurvey.org.
What we collect when you respond
When you submit a response we record the agents you selected and the month you responded in. Alongside that we capture a small amount of request context to keep the survey honest, your IP address, your browser's user agent string, the timezone your browser reports, and a country code derived from your IP address. From those values we compute a one-way hash, a signature that lets us collapse repeat responses from the same visitor within a month without keeping a separate identity for you.
We do not ask for your name, and responding never records an email address. Your response is not linked to any account.
What we collect when you subscribe
If you choose to be notified about new reports, we store the email address you give us and the month you subscribed from. This notify list lives on its own and is never joined to your response. We use the address only to send new-report notifications, and every message includes an unsubscribe link.
Cookies
We use a single functional cookie that carries one-time status messages, such as a confirmation after you respond, across page loads. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking, and there are no analytics trackers embedded in the pages.
How we use the data
The request context exists for one reason, to detect and remove duplicate or automated responses so the published numbers mean something. Once a month closes we compute the report, dedup responses by their signature, drop obvious noise, and publish only the per-agent totals. Individual responses and the context behind them are never published.
Sharing
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers. We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers to host the site and send email, and they process data only on our behalf. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
Retention
We keep response records for as long as they are useful to validate and preserve the integrity of the published dataset. Aggregate results are public and kept indefinitely. Subscriber emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
Your rights under the GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you rights over your personal data, and this section explains how they apply here.
Our legal basis for the request context tied to a response is our legitimate interest in running an accurate, abuse-resistant public survey. Our legal basis for sending report emails is your consent, which you give by entering your address and which you can withdraw at any time.
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it erased, to restrict or object to our processing, and to receive it in a portable form. To exercise any of these, write to contact@codingagentsurvey.org. Because a response is stored behind a one-way signature rather than your identity, we may need details such as the approximate time and month of your response to locate the record. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.
The site is operated from outside the EEA, so using it may involve transferring your data internationally. We take reasonable steps to protect it wherever it is processed.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
